Hello /sci/, got a modern question here

I want to save peoples private threads, from Facebook, as pictures, for the future with the intent of having information/evidence of certain cultures and debates about the social-economic structure of our country, which happens behind closed and private groups.
Right now I edit in them, removing my avatar and putting circles around what I think is important, but would that lead to that the picture cannot be used in an eventuel future analysis, because I could potentially have edited everything to my wishes and be biased af?

I know it's a weird question, but I think it's important for other cases as well

If you wanted it to be truly verifiable, you would need to a) establish that the contents of the conversation before capture have not been edited (i.e., you run some script that changes the content displayed on your screen) and b) establish that the stored data from the capture has not been edited.

I would think you could find a lot of information about this by looking into how computer forensics of Facebook posts, messages, etc. is done for legal cases.

Sure. From some prelimary reading, your options are to either carve the data from information stored on your computer, or by using a tool to preserve the information from Facebook directly. A couple examples of the latter are linked below.
