Science cannot answer this question, as it is, due to its nature, valueless. Meaning requires value, which science cannot supply- science can only supply observations and data. The closest thing science has to any sort of coherent value structure is "understand things more fully", which is at best vague and not really a workable personal philosophy anyways.

Assuming you don't believe in some form of higher power or powers, and you don't get caught up in some form of cult, you get to/have to decide what the meaning of life is.

It's a lot of rather uncomfortable work based on subjective suppositions, but to live without it is to hardly live at all. Humans seem to require some sort of goal or meaning, so find one. It might help to orient yourself around HUMAN universals instead of MATERIAL universals, such as suffering, pleasure, order, and chaos.

Here's a decent one: Try your best to reduce the amount of suffering or increase the amount of pleasure in the world by the way you live your life and your actions. It would probably help to start with yourself.
