Eternal life would be the _worst_ thing that could happen to a person. For example, imagine living for million years. Would you get bored? What about googol (10^100) years? Graham's number of years? You would eventually go insane, and pray that your life would end. But it never would, since it's eternal.

In fact, if you're given two choices:
1) Being literally tortured for a finite amount of time (like only 1000 years) until you die, and
2) having a life that lasts an infinite amount of time;
You would be better off choosing the option 1, since at least you would be released eventually.

In general Ending Aging (what Maria Konovalenko and Aubreyde Grey talk about) doesn't mean immortality, of course. Ending aging means preserving a youthful body till something other than aging kills you.
