a billion years into the future, will trees be evolved enough to speak and understand all the world's languages?

yep

What makes you think they can't already?

They don't. Trees need a Brain first to understand language.
A Brain which at least the size of a Dog's Brain.

& For advanced math & physics you need to have much bigger brains than that.

if it a possibility trees can grow brains through evolution if it would benifit them?

>if it would benifit them
It wouldn't. Intelligence is useless, no matter what thought or plan you come up, if you're immotile. Without agency it's just a waste of energy.

what if they developed the intelligence to produce toxic fruits on demand? or to spray sap? or to smell really good or really bad? seems pretty useful to me

yeh i guess ur right, what about it humans aided a trees evolution are did it artificialy, maybe in a billion years then? given that its even possibile

Having a good brain requires energy, all of those abilities you mentioned could be performed in a more energy efficient way without needing a brain. Like a venus fly trap for instance.

Neither of these are examples of intelligence. All of these are novel functions of the body. And if these functions actually evolved, then you'd still have to justify why they need sapient control instead of just instinct or automatism, and if these functions really improve the fitness of the species compared to their cost and maintenance.

Why develop intelligence when you already have photosynthesis?

>> No.9047937

>>9047929
If you're talking about active genetic tailoring, then sure, why not. It's just life like any other. We could give it brains, in time, if we truly wanted (and don't die out).

Thats really cool, one of the reasons why i love science and evolution

Probably wouldn't look anything like any tree you'd know, though.

Yeh, but im sure in theory you could

They do, all plants do, through the mycorrhizal networks:

Well, it is a mathematics based system, mathematics is the most universal language.
Therefore, they understand and speak all of the world's languages - and more.
