How great would have been if he had lived past 20? Would have been on the level of Euler?

If Galois survived his duel...
If Ramanujan hadn't been born Indian...
If Nash didn't become a schizo...
If Kaczynski didn't sign up for that Harvard experiment...

Math is full of tragic what-ifs.

no but abel would have been

If Grothendieck wasn't so against the military funding his workplace
If Mumford didn't start researching computer vision
If von Neumann didn't work on bombs he knew would give him cancer
If Teichmuller wasn't a Nazi
If Sylow wasn't a high school teacher
If Voevodsky didn't fall for the type theory meme

No one even glanced at his work, either it was lost in transit or no one cared. That's why he threw his life away. He thought he was a failure at the time. It was only much later that his work was looked up and given credit. If he had survived the duel he still wouldn't have done much. Why would he continue to do math? He already had his greatest work turned away. He'd probably just live like a normal person and give up on math.

do you guys think perelman still does math?

The memes have gotten to me. For a moment there, I thought I was staring at an image of Elliot Rodger.

Perelman has probably solved every Millennium Prize Problem and more and is keeping it secret until after he dies.

kek

What other he could have done than continue on mathematics and making his claims and logical continuum more clear?

It's a hypothetical question but in all normal circumstances, even though his death and the misery took place in times of second French revolution, there wouldn't be much else to work on for him. He even had Poisson to recommend to make his notions more clear and understandable. Even though his work was undervalued at the time he would still continue doing the math scripts, just like a prostitute doesn't give fuck if someone tell her that she's a whore but continues the paid intercourse.
