Two, Education isn't the only thing they need. They also need a solid financial base to fund the education system (which necessarily must be built using as few skilled labor jobs as possible for obvious reasons), and they also need about a generation's worth of stability and relative prosperity for children to grow up well nourished and in stable environments where they have to opportunity to actually learn.

On the other hand, the region is stabilizing, if only slowly, and it's growing more financially prosperous as it does. It's only a matter of time before Africa has some first-world countries of it's own.

I live in a third world shithole (albeit western, I guess this applies to all underdeveloped countries). The main problem is corruption. There's plenty pf money to be invested in education and other important stuff, but the politicians will keep taking a lot of it to themselves.
