>therefore i need to know from you fags what's the most "Difficult" first year curriculum in mathematics will be like to begin with it over summer

First year engineering takes three first year math courses, see how those go for you and then consider switching into math.

Also, Stewart Calculus is a good introductory calculus book. It's probably what you're using for your first year math class anyway.

i did my math undergrad at queens

the most difficult first year curriculum is just math 120 (honours calc) and math 110 (honours linear algebra)

these are the standard first year classes and stewart and any book called linear algebra will do you fine

It's very hard to learn from spivak/apostol if you dont know calculus before

Most of us learned calc for engineers first

ocw.mit.edu has excellent calculus classes

stewart is a calculus methods book which will be used far more by engineers and physics and chemistry students than by maths student.

spivak or apostol's calculus books are more illuminating.

Really though linear algebra is a far more fundamental and widely used and unavoidable skill IMO so if I were to try and get a head start on gaining important maths skills I'd do linear alebra by myself rather than calculus or introductory analysis

also if you do well enough in the first semester of math 110 (i.e. >~90%) you usually get invited to take math 210 (basic ring theory) in the second semester
