Is there any actual science behind "global warming," or is it just politics?

The oldest science known to man, social science.

We fuck up the atmosphere is a number of ways, have saved the earth multiple times over (from ourselves) and yet still are a threat to the planet's ecology and our own survival. Not to mention natural climate cycles.

So no, global climate considerations and minimizing human impact is not a meme.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

"The scientific consensus is that the Earth's climate system is unequivocally warming, and that it is extremely likely (meaning 95% probability or higher) that this warming is predominantly caused by humans. It is likely that this mainly arises from increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as from deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels, partially offset by human caused increases in aerosols; natural changes had little effect."

Science is about making testifiable predictions and so far the predictions of climate "scientists" have all been proven wrong.

Proven wrong... by conspiracy theorists?

They have not matched the prediction because the results are far worse that expected.

New Santer et al. Paper on Satellites vs. Models: Even Cherry Picking Ends with Model Failure

Dr. John Christy's congressional testimonies on 8 Dec 2015 and 2 Feb 2016 in which he stated that climate models over-forecast climate warming by a factor of 2.5 to 3, apparently struck a nerve in Climate Consensus land.
[...]
Overall, it looks to me like Santer et al. twist themselves into a pretzel by cherry picking data, using a new hot satellite dataset that appears to be undocumented, ignores independent (radiosonde) evidence (since it does not support their desired conclusion), and still arrives at a substantial 1.7x average bias in the climate models warming rates. It's as real as the same politically enforced global cooling meme we had 25 years ago. We had the same amount of "data", ""evidence"" and """""scientists""""" had consensus on the subject.

>> No.8425146

I had an astronomy professor who was studying solar flares and radiation. He found very compelling evidence that climate change was due to this, yet when he was forced to confront the fact that this would make him a climate denier, he basically reinterpreted his results to make it seem less important.

I do think humans are contributing to climate change, but its honestly pretty scary that doing research into this area has become so political. You could risk your entire career if you find results that don't enforce the narrative.

The aerosol ice age scare was in the 1970s (Rasool, Schneider et al, I have about 100 articles from 1970..1979) but the idea of consensus was still considered foreign to science. Enforced consensus and quasi-religious climate catastrophism was introduced in 1998 mainly by James Hansen and his buddy Albert Gore together with the IPCC created a decade earlier. The public brainwashing then started in earnest in the Dreadful Decade after 2001.

"We found the enemy and it is us." But who is this faceless 'we'?
