Computer science major here. My semester is going easy. This question has been on my mind though as I've procrastinated to do calculus homework all day, why does weed make life better? I feel like weed has raised my IQ significantly just by thinking about things more vividly while high. Is that what IQ is all about? How vividly you can think about things? If so, it's definitely been evident in my own life.

Intelligence is relative. Trying to make it an absolute is bound for failure.

What do you mean by intelligence is relative?

IQ is a number that defines how well you do at identifying patterns, or at least that's what I seem to only hone my skills at when I take online tests.

If you're talking about intelligence, I define that as the willingness to seek out a solution to a problem. i.e. not giving up when trying to solve a millennium prize problem (an extreme example).

You cannot be intelligent without something to be intelligent about. ie, your overall intelligence at a given instant in time would have to be weighed against the total spectrum of tasks you're capable of recognizing, to be treated as an absolute. Therefore it has to be broken up into smaller relative pieces, which by understanding the brain's subsystems, you can sometimes predict performance between tasks. Though this doesn't account for capacity.

On major scale people that were risen in first worlds with acces to technology since early age - and constant use of it, scored higher in IQ tests than natives from africa or other regions or other grades of development with not so much technology - there were even studies based on this - it's not as much of pattern recognition as much as a measurement for how well brain adapted to modern human life.

Basically it's a test to measure the most compatible human beings with modern infrastructure - hence why high IQ jet pilots are the best statistically, but in other many areas of life it doesn't apply so generally.

It's clearly not an intelligence test, rather just take it as it's own category IQ tests, there are areas of life where the IQ score is a good indicator for various tasks - and that's all about it.

Iq is lower in Africa due to race

Yes OP, Computer "Science" is easy enough that you can do it high.
