My great grandmother died of pneumonia at 101, ~two weeks after receiving a flu shot.

Convince me correlation does not imply causation.

causation doesn't exist you filthy disgusting determinist

Determinism is the only meaningful framework to consider reality through.

Your opinions are wrong and you should feel wrong and like the lowest of gutter filth.

Well, she obviously died because she didn't get another one ten days after
Since correlation implies causation and all

100% of crimes are committed within 4 days of drinking water.

This implies that drinking water causes crime.

This is how retarded you sound.

No, it implies that crime causes drinking water. Criminals provide a vital public health service.

I can't, because it does.

Correlation always implies causation in the weak, colloquial sense of implies (equivalent to suggests). The job of the scientist is to design experiments to demonstrate correlation in such a way that the only reasonable interpretation is to conclude true causation.

If no such experiment can be performed, the next best thing is to fall back on several criteria for concluding causation. To summarize - is the correlation consistent, is there a biologically plausible mechanism (even if it has not been proved), does the effect increase as the dose of the putative causative agent increases, is the correlation replicable? If all of those things are true, you might be justified in concluding causation from correlation.
