Berkeleyfag here. I'm still bitter at the physics department for not allowing me to skip out of physics 7A, 7B despite my ability to ace the finals given what I learned in AP physics.

The math department lets people skip any pre-requisite they want. The physics department strictly enforces pre-reqs.

The physics department treats its undergrads like children in that regard, uncapable of gauging their own placement or suffering the consequences of error in that regard.

It is for that reason alone I became a pure math major instead of a physics/math double major. And indeed, I skipped into grad classes by my sophomore year.

The physics classes may be great, but the physics department is stifling and retarded.
