I'm starting a calculus course in January and have been out of college for almost a decade. I'm working on a refresher work book, but it only has the answers, not a "how to". I can figure out most of the stuff with Wolfram Alpha and YouTube, but this question has me confused. Can anyone help?

Use this identity:
[math]sin^2(\theta) + cos^2(\theta) = 1[/math]

2/5

Stated answer is 4/25

These are the same, 2/5 = 2^2 / 5^2 = 4/25

No, that's a^2+b^2=(a+b)^2
