30 mathematical geniuses have committed suicide trying to solve the equation of infinity. They became obsessed and so have I. How can something exist that has no beginning or no end...no start and no finish. For those who it is too hard to comprehend, think of the concept of God.

This is bait for retarded popsci faggots (much like you must be pretending to be) but okay.

First of all, there are excellent arguments against the existence of God that squarely fall on 'his' infinity.

Second of all, infinity is a construct. It doesn't necessarily have to be manifested in any physical form. It's just an idea. A useful thing made basically for the sake of developing math more easily.

just like God

God doesn't help develop math, really. At best, it's an idea that keeps self-centered pricks from committing suicide by implying a grand scheme in the universe that revolves around them.

>> No.7668633

Think about it that way, if the universe is finite, so are numbers, because you'll be able to contain only so many digits in one universe, even if you manage to be able to store digits in the smallest form, there still will be an end to them. If the universe is infinite, so are the numbers.

Good thinking OP you definitely should commit suicide

B-But anon infinite is not a number it's a limit, an idea, how can you make an equation with a non-number?

If time is truly infinite (or theoretically approaches infinity) then your lifes period of time is zero (or approaches zero)

Well yeah, it is not a number, but it does have a clear geometric definition as the pole of the Riemann Sphere.

(pole as in like the north pole not a singularity)

this is really trippy feel. like occasionally I'm walking down the stairs or something and I get a deja vu where I know I will get a deja vu in a few seconds. that can result in 20-30 seconds of continous deja vu.

Our 3d existence is based around the idea of beginning and end and sequences of events, its how we perceive "space time"

Its only natural that we cant comprehend the idea of the universe existing forever, because we do not.

The mere fact that you exist should be evidence enough that existence was "worth happening" to put it plainly. Otherwise you wouldn't exist right?

Jesus christ you fuckers are stupid, all infinity is is simply a number that is ever incrementing, increasing in unit forever non-stop, infinity/forever are states of being, not a number. And if you have a unit that is ever incrementing, it had to have started at unit 1 at some point, in other words the infinity has a beginning point, which means the universe has a beginning point. The true question we should be asking is when energy came into existence as the singularity, did it come into existence in a state of equilibrium or a state of imbalance(creating the Big Bang explosion), a non-equilibrium state.

Extended real number line. You take R, add infinity and -infinity and partially extend +, * and <.
Of course this is not a field anymore, but helps when dealing with limits.
After doing so, there is nothing special about infinity, it is just a symbol, like every other fucking number.

The study of mathematics in itself, and especially a concept as asinine as infinity, is an exercise in mental illness. So this is just evolution doing its thing.
