We're better at it.

But seriously, control theory actually grew out of process engineering back when we used pneumatic circuitry (yes you electron worshiping cucks, you can make circuits out of other shit too) to control processes as far as I'm aware.

Or the historicity of our control theory did at least. I'm sure your textbooks tell a different story where you ignore the fact that you stole the math we developed and butchered it.

In the engineering school were I plan to take my masters when I graduate there are higher requirements to join any engineering program. I know because most of my friends became X engineers. That requirement is simply getting 100 points above average.

Here is the entire survey for all careers:
https://career.berkeley.edu/Survey/2014Majors

If you care about real numbers instead of your own echo chamber, you will also notice that all engineerings (except for EE) get paid significantly less than Mathematicians (around 10k less in average)

To help you: Mathematicians in average earn 84k in their entry level job.

Now look the average pay for your engineering and compare.

I will give you something though: You have more chances of being employed.

However, if you notice the math results, most of them decided to go to grad school so it doesn't count.

So if you notice:
Math graduates without a job: 18%
Civil Engineers without a job: 18%

The market is as good for you as it is for me, and my pay is higher.

You entering into a phd or masters program is not something that happens. They did it conciously and had to work for it. You should google grad school entry requirements.

And remember that most grad students also get paid by their own schools (their studies plus something to live) so they are making money too.

But you are literally ignoring the fact that there were others that chose to go to get a job and that those people are getting paid more than you.

But CivE jobs are still more interesting than the limited options you have; which is code monkeying if you want a good salary.

>Petroleum engineering 100k+ starting
That is indeed fucking nice. However there are trends showing that this sector in specific may shrink in the following decades. Still, 100k starting is really nice.

Ignoring petroleum (because with those numbers there is no discussion that it is top tier), my mathematics is just 16k behind the next one in the lead.

I will be making 16k less in average than those people. That is not so bad.

Fortunately for me I'm not an average person and my internships in companies will benefit me greatly when the time comes so I am sure my earnings will be above average.

>actual mathematics in second
Nice too, unfortunately I don't care about specializing in that area. Even though I think in my country there is no specialization for that, you can get in out of mathematics because there is no specific actuary degree here.

I don't know what study is more accurate but either way my future is looking pretty bright. I will also bookmark that study now.

Let me answer that with this:
Who the fuck would hire a mathematician to do code monkeying. It is CS people who study languages and memorize algorithms in their degree. Mathematicians in the software industry would get hired in tougher and more logic based positions.

Btw, it is exactly software that interests me so I have no problem working at a software company.

The average person spends their summer partying and taking drugs. I chose to do interviews and then work for a few weeks there.

You are in for a serious shock if you think the average person doesn't do internships.

I don't know a single person in my graduating class that doesn't have 1-2 internships under their belt. Most have 2.

I mean what the fuck this isn't high-school no one in STEM "spends their summer partying and taking drugs" what the fuck.

I'm not even saying you're not above average, I don't know your grades/what quality work you produced during your internships, but having internship experience on your CV is expected, not special. It's only when you don't have any that you are guaranteed to be unemployed.

The only classes that I know everyone there has internships are those that have mandatory internships in their curriculum.

Yes, those are the type of people we make fun of who become teachers or work in retail/service. They aren't going to become mathematicians. They got a math degree for the sake of getting a college experience.

You're going to be competing against serious STEM candidates who take their careers seriously.

Some advice on transferring to a pre-engineering degree?

My initial choice was to complete a CS+Math (spec in physics) double-major and then work in computational life sciences as a career. I've talked to a rep from a college that I planned to transfer to and she suggested that I look into their pre-engineering program as well.

I did, and it seems like there are engineering/math professionals that move into life sciences, but EE+Bio just seems like a left-field combination to get into. Is it worth my time in terms of job prospects/schooling investment/job satisfaction?
