So Mythbusters did pic related.

I'm curious about something, /sci/. Say you are a sniper travelling in a real fast truck that's only driving 15mph slower than the bullet your are firing, for some reason.

Would the bullet travell to its target or would the speed of the truck obstruct its path in any way?

And let's assume it's travelling at 1mph less than the bullet, what would happen?

man I remember the last time my path was blocked by a velocity
I crashed right into that v=10mph and broke my arm on impact

learn to write coherent sentences, seriously

actually I don't

you never specified wether the truck travels forward and the sniper fires backwards or if traveling and shooting occurs in the same direction
and in both cases how would the truck "obstruct the path" of the bullet?
either the bullet flies out the back at a mere 15mph because the velocity of the truck cancels out most of the bullets velocity
or the bullet flies out the front with the velocity of the bullet and the truck combined
nowhere would the truck get in the way of the bullet

This board is meant for discussing science, not explaining the most basics concepts of any subject to someone "passing by." Either you're a troll or you're someone who deseres pity for even asking such a question.

ill answer your question OP since the others are being pedantic faggots. Yes, the bullet will leave the rifle at 15 mph relative to a stationary observer. A bullet traveling at 15mph is not like a normal bullet travelling at ~1500mph. The only reason normal bullets 'travel' to their target, is because they move so fast that gravity doesn't have much time to pull them down into an arc. When the bullet is only traveling 15 mph, the bullet is heavily arced and will hit the ground a short distance away from the truck. The same happens with the 1mph bullet, it just hits even closer to the truck. Of course this all assumes that the target is in a stationary frame. ( not moving alongside the truck)

Like others, I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but if your question is "do bullets obey different laws of physics than bowling balls," then the answer is no.

Thank you! Yes, I was speaking of a stationary object, not a moving one.

So as long as the bullet travels at a slightly higher speed than the truck, it'll hit its mark and not drop like the bowling ball? Assuming there's a truck that goes that fast.

if the speed difference of bullet vs truck is too small then it will still kinda plop out of the barrel
a couple of meters per second is not exactly fast, the bullet will drop to the ground before it ever reaches the target

Not him, but I also had no idea what the fuck you were asking.
I kind of inferred based on the setup "you're a gun traveling in a truck."

But the only reason I was able to make that inference was because it's a classic problem that they give first-year students to solve about a hundred times a day.

Other than that, I'd suggest learning English before trying to communicate in it.

Are you asking two questions? What happens if the truck is v-1mph and v-15mph? What direction is the gun facing? Forward? Aft? Left/Right? Where is the target distance?
