I'm a mathematics major and i hate calculus

What do?

the only other math available is geometry.

If you hate geometry, you are a failure anon

you can still become a mathematician in logic, combinatorics, algebra, category theory, topology, or geometry without using much calculus.

Keep dreaming. λ calculus is everywhere, even in theoretical CS. Even if you get into logic, you'll soon encounter process calculi, so you're fucked, too.

You cannot fight it.
You cannot escape it.
You can only submit.

thanks yeah this is what i was looking for

the worst part is i will only get to check out most of that near the end of my bachelors.

im doing analysis and d eq and so next semester i will get to choose 300-400lvl stuff like that

kinda angry that i had to deal with this bullshit calc for 3 semesters when i have no ambition for it at all

i enjoyed linear algebra a lot

>> No.7466546

skip it and study groups instead.

Wiat. You've been studying mathematics for 3 semsters in a university, yet you have no idea what's in it besides calculus? You are one sodding muppet.

>> No.7466556

>>7466531
Babby calculus is kind of boring, but for example. analysis is much more interesting than calculus, even if calculus is what you get from analysis, it might not be for you even then, but it's a wait and see game here.

What I mean is you get to the more interesting stuff later on, when the course becomes more proof based (as some calc classes aren't).

theoretical cs is like sticking a firehydrant up my cock hole

literally some of these disciplines are for fucking weirdos

i took cs201 and seriously wondered how anyone would enjoy this and i looked around and everyone was weird as fuck

even weirder than my math bros

fuck off

kek'd hardcore. probably b8, but:

>implying usage of the word "calculus" means two disciplines overlap greatly.

lambda calculus literally has nothing to do with the calculus to which OP's referring.

I have no idea what "cs201" is, but I assume that you're studying in the USA, on a shitty university (CS is so notoriously bad in the US, besides a few selected unis, that they have to call the real thing "theoretical CS") and that you were probably in a "non-theoretical" CS course. Those are usually, esp. early in the degree, filled with weirdo neckbears.

Why OP? Calculus is the only useful branch of university level maths. Everything else is just fancy puzzles.

I'm a Maths major who found Calculus insufferably boring. Try look at it's applications. I still don't like Calculus too much but at least the applications were motivating and I got to learn some other shit about physics, geophysics, chemistry, etc. as well and it made me appreciate it that bit more.
