I'm sure Purdue will be easier to get into than MIT, but consider that anyone who applying for these graduate programs are excellent students in their own regard. For you to get into MIT, you have to be one of the best aerospace undergrads in the world, and anyone left over, who are also very very good, will get into other programs like Purdue and Georgia Tech.

So, UBC is a known school and one of the best in Canada, you have good stats from the looks of it, but keep all of what I said in mind.

I'd recommend Caltech, Stanford, Michigan and Georgia Tech in addition to MIT if you're interested in doing aerospace. They're all better than Purdue, hell Purdue is where people who got rejected from the above schools go. If you're super keen on industry, try Washington as well, their aerospace department is literally named after Boeing.

You can find information on making a good graduate school application anywhere. You need research experience and strong recommendation letters, as well as a well written and thought out SOP showing that you're smart and that you're a good fit for the school in terms of research interests. If you want to do work in robotics or control, yes. If you want to do work in CFD or solid mechanics, no.

Aerospace is an interdisciplinary field that combines almost all other engineering fields. The two most heavily "borrowed" fields are Mech and Electrical. Other borrowed fields are civil (structures), chem (combustion) and mat sci (self explanatory.

That said, you might need to pass from breadth requirements meaning you can't get an aerospace engineering degree without knowing what an aileron is.
