r u fucking retarded? alcohol before exams? alcohol lowers your working memory.

if you want something good, it's gonna have to be adderall and some acetylcholinerase inhibitor. there you go. that's clarity.

Cocoa beans. Must be unprocessed. Only removed from the fruit, husked, let briefly ferment in the sun, then ground into a powder. It is a great stimulant, but prolonged use messes with short term (but not so much working memory) memory formation, awareness, decision making, etc.

Caffeine is garbage for any such thing. Definitely not, at least in my case. Kava kava has been useful as well. Personally I found amphetamine, like many compounds, to be dualistic. It takes nearly as much as it provides. Only shifts the mind, crippling some functions and accentuating others.

>>7360952
Oh. Also, to add on. Severe deficit of calories will sharpen the mind as well. Going without eating for ~1.5 days tends to do the trick. Sleep deprivation combined with intake of caffeine starting from the 26-30 hour range can also boost capacity for information retention. Seems to do away with many checks as things move to longer term memory and frees your mind of all the trivial bullshit you might otherwise have floating around.

Let's stick some stimulants in an anxious person, it'll work out fine, everything will be better!

For me
Peppermint
Meditation
Music

Have associated peppermint with test taking for years of school, and it kinda translated into something to do before anything important. When possible I just eat a peppermint candy or sometimes use peppermint body spray. Completely unsure of the effect at this point.

Other two are obviously just relaxation techniques. When I need to do something well having a brief period with which to gather myself and walk into the situation without any extraneous bullshit is of massive benefit. At bare minimum I will close my eyes and take a few deep breaths to focus on the task at hand.

But it is true, I do experience it this way, and I won't "spoonfeed" you. It's unlikely there has been any research selectively conducted by sources you would considered authoritative, your request for sources would just turn into me providing dozens of sources on the deepest of known biological mechanisms to establish a framework that you can see at least loosely supporting the claim. Rather than absent mindedly saying "source plz I think it's bullshit", think about what you're actually asking for.

On the note of blame, and since you mentioned the burden of proof an intellectual dishonesty, if you're so disinterested and even outright disinclined to think about a statement in even the most basic sense for yourself, maybe you deserve some blame. A degree of fault inherently lies in yourself, and you cannot ever escape this.

I already responded either way. Follow the directions in the subsequent post.

1)Sleep
2)Sleep
3)Sleep

Adequate sleep before studying otherwise you are going to be less efficient. Frequent timed breaks.

Sleep after studying to help the hypocampus encode new memories. Cramming doesn't work.

Sleep 7-8+ hours before exams. No exotic concoction can replicate the performance benefits of being fully rested, but uppers/downers/"nootropics"(aka "placebo") can give you a false sense of performance/confidence/competency.

Also, Coursera has an awesome evidence-based class called "Learning How to Learn," which would probably be snubbed here by a lot of the self-proclaimed intellectuals who are all too busy tweaking their noots while simultaneously failing out of undergrad STEM. Best of luck.

>> No.7366332

>>7366287
This is very important. Especially to get good sleep it can help to:

1) have a clean and comfortable place to sleep. comfort is important. if you were comfy as a kid and slept well keep toys and plush animals around. will make your body automatically get into the right "mode" for rest.

2) regulate ones stress level to a comfortable level before going to bed, this includes getting bad thoughts, pains and anxieties out of the head.

3) make sure nothing will disturb your sleep. things which can disturb your sleep include: sounds, light, housecats attacking you and waking you up, forgetting to turn off loudspeakers on mobile phones or computers. if you can't expect too much privacy, for instance when travelling make sure to use earplugs to minimize noise. hearing is the last sense to leave conciousness especially high pitched sound. which is why we automatically wake up for a crying baby for instance.

4) MAKE SURE YOU DON'T SNORE. Snoring can effectively make your sleep shitty as hell. Make you feel like you are a zombie or elderly person physically or mentally retarded. It can affect your life to a degree when you start thinking you may have a serious disease. Not kidding.

I have a brain tumor that keeps recurring that produces massive amounts of stress hormone, and I can tell when it keeps coming back because I'll start to feel like conquering the planet for about a month or so before my adrenal glands (the glands the produce stress hormones) tire out, and then I feel like shit.
