Scientists vs. Mathematicians vs Engineers

Go

>> No.7315509

Math is easy therefore engineering is easy science is the hardest and the hardest of science is Chemistry and I just happen to do that therefore I'm the smartest

>> No.7315513

>>7315509
Science is applied math. Without math, science wouldn't exist.

>> No.7315535

a scientist, mathematician, and an engineer walk into a lecture hall

a complicated problem is written on the board, the scientist and mathematician begin to work on solving the problem, the engineer is busy sucking his own cock

Depends. Low tier mathematician (hs teacher, actuary) wrecks any low tier scientist (slut with bachelors in biology) or engineer (civilfags, mechanical engs, etc) by virtue of having brains.

High tier its more even

This only applies to the pure formal logic part of philosophy. Which is really the only part of philosophy that has anything to do with modern mathematics.

Where is the mathematician part of that image?

Are you a moron? While formal logic is a part of math, it is a small part. Algebra and discrete do not rely on "philosophy" at all. Neither does numerical/applied math. Analysis is the only major branch of math still anchored in formal logic, and only technically.

>> No.7315606

>>7315579
I'm not that guy but you're a retard if you think Algebra and discrete don't require formal logic.

I couldn't find one with all three :(

I believe engineering is the hardest, for that is what I study. Also we get paid the most apparently.

chances are there is little difference between the 3. they will likely all live less than memorable lives, likely make less than memorable contributions to there fields too *shrug*

if you've got to be told which profession to choose your not going to be very good at it.

But, my degree...

>> No.7315644

All math depends on formal logic, and my argument was Philosophy is nowhere near as hard as math and has almost nothing to do with it, but math is still "applied" philosophy if we're speaking so generally. This is the same sense in which science is just applied math, and thus does not make math harder.

Average salary of an engineer > average of a mathematician
Even worse with medians.

>> No.7315672

>>7315644
So what you're saying is that since science is applied math, science can't be harder than math.
Which in turn says that since math is applied philosophy, math can't be harder than philosophy.

No I'm saying the exact opposite of that.
IF Science is applied Math as >>7315513
said, then that doesn't mean it is harder.
This guy >>7315546 thinks it does, and I made the point that Math is applied Philosophy to show that no, something being the applied form of something else does not equal more difficult.
