A while back, I was talking with my uncle about what I was "learning" in High School Biology. This man is quite literally a rocket scientist (he designs timers and detonators for missiles, if I recall correctly), has studied physics/related fields extensively, etc. He was quite adamant that Osmosis has been "debunked" to the point that he was legitimately upset that I was being taught this at school.

I went on to learn more about osmosis in a Gen Ed bio class in college.

Anybody know why biologists and physicists can't seem to agree on osmosis?

Pic kinda related.

Osmosis exists, your misunderstood your uncle or he's a retard

How can you disprove an observable fact?

Osmosis exists, we even use an Osmometer at my job.

(OP) Both are entirely possible.

What is the debunking about? All you need is a semi-penetrable membrane and a little thermodynamics.

your uncle doesn't know what he's talking about

>asking a physicist about chemistry
you fucked up

Well osmosis jones exists so ex post facto osmosis does too

How can osmosis exist if our eyes don't exist?

I don't know what kind of osmosis they have in physics but in biology it's very real and happens all the time.

Osmosis is just glorified diffusion you cockmongler.

diffusion is just glorified movement
