Why does my O chem book say 'not for sale in the US'
Is there secret knowledge in there the usa cannot know about?

>> No.7035105

The curriculum is more difficult, so the average amerifat won't be able to pass a course using that textbook.

Can confirm, I once tried learning Ochem but gave up because I was too fat.

Publishing companies have special relationships with universities, and you probably noticed that you have an international student edition. This is just a hunch, but I'm guessing that the international editions are cheaper for the university students overseas, and so they want local universities to pay top dollar for them.

because the international edition is hundreds of dollars cheaper.

Makes sense. Although this fucker was expensive enough. €80 to €100 cant really remember

most US universities are forbidden by law from teaching evolutionary biology. I assume your chem book discusses abiogenesis which would be a huge nono in the US

list price is $407.95 for US version vs £71.99=$109.19 for international

its for the stupid code so you can unlock the homework.

this is why
although they usually don't put that label on the cover, they just, well, don't sell the int'l ed in the USA new
I've bought international editions for classes before (I think it was called university physics?) and the only difference I could find between mine and my classmates (other than saving like $120) was that every other chapter they would add 1 practice question, relatively earlier on in the set, so that it would throw off every number (and the odds would become even and the evens become odd, which was annoying when we were assigned odd problems and only odd problems were in the back of the book)

>>7035130
You're just flat out wrong on that one
although I do believe there are debates about that on the k-12 public school level and in some states (bible belt, deep south) you can't teach it
But US universities? nah
I'd guess that evolutionary biology is conveniently not included in the curriculum of some schools with religious affiliations
