Will we ever be able to go through time?
It would be indeed impossible to go back to the past.. but the future is another thing.

What can we want from time travel to do for us, if not only go to the future?
Well, in a way, we could. even now.
However, it does cost us our lifespan to do it.

Such as taking a sleeping pill and set an alaram for 4 hours later. You are in a way, going to the future of 4 hours from now, since you are uncouncience during that time.

With technology progressing, it wont be difficult to imaging a device to do it in a more practical way.

More thoughts?

From a sci-fi standpoint, concept explored in Worthing Saga using fictional drug "soma."

In real life, at least one researcher is looking into suspended animation for medical use.

Time travel should technically possible due to the new quark fundamentalism. Furthermore, standard model shows that the higgs-boson is the mass attributing substance. To move faster, or faster than light, we have to use anti-matter which uses the negative excitations of the higgs field to move faster than light. So yeah, physics allows it.

>> No.7013828

The problem is, Time is less of a "thing" than it is an arbitrary form of measurement that was assigned.

It's like asking to go forward and back through a ruler (the concept and not the units of measurement).

You see?

Time Travel always was and always will be Science Fiction.

>> No.7013851

You can travel into the future at a greater rate by approaching the speed of light. Obviously that requires yet to be discovered energy sources and propulsion systems.

Exactly.
They don't know how it works or why, only theories.

>> No.7014012

Exactly. That is why i am referring to time as a viewpoint of something that you could call "human time". We could fasten our concience of time with systems we can create.
Such as being unconcience. You experience the time but anware of it in a weird way, which leads us to the posibility of time travel in our mind.

Time travel isn't all that interesting. It is much more cost effective to learn to manipulate the people who live right now to get what we want.

gravity isn't a theory, it's a phenomena.

there are theories regarding the phenomena; they are not expressed as definitive because we haven't analyzed enough data.

Time and space are the same thing. Space-Time. That one can move in space implies one ought to be able to move in time. The grandfather paradox could be bullshit if parallel universes exist, by killing your grandfather before you were born you might just create another universe.

String theory anyone?

If you could observe everything in the universe at once in real time and make a quantum simulation of the entire universe based on these results then you could "travel through time" and know every event that has ever happened.

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then time travel is indeed possible. If not, it's not possible

>tl;dr if time travel is possible it's extremely likely we would have experienced the aftereffects of people time travelling by now

also time isn't a force or thing, it's something we created to measure change.

Whoa dude, what if that's actually correct? Maybe string theory is right, but instead of having more spatial dimensions, we just have more time dimensions.

And maybe multiple dimensions of time explains the quantum thingamajig whatever where something can be in two states or places or some shit at once. I don't know, I'm just a popsci faggot.
