My chemistry teacher tried to argue that burning a candle was a physical reaction. When I pointed out that the wick was irretrievable, thus making it a chemical reaction, he discarded what I said and yelled at me to stop arguing with the right answer. a flame is pretty particular, it's a place where some intense exothermic oxydation take place. So since it's oxydation, it's chemical. But if you says it's physical you can't be wrong too, chemics reaction isn't enougth to explain the flame.

anyway, chemical reaction it's also physics. Physics sciences is the description of nature.

He is technically right. In LEO there is still some atmospheric drag, so the ISS is needs to fire a rocket every once in a while to stay in steady orbit. The ISS and its astronauts are maintained above the orbital speed in order to maintain a steady orbit.

A coin dropped out of the ISS would be in orbit for a while, because it would still carry the relative velocity from the space station. But without its own source of propulsion, it would slowly decelerate due to atmospheric drag, falling below the orbit speed and eventually fall to the earth.

"no number can be smaller then zero" ->negative numbers

"you can't have half numbers" -> Fractions

"You can't solve for this complex vector system, because you aren't using calc 3 methods which you haven't learned yet anyway" -> advanced trigonometry+calc 1+dimensional compressions and expansion functions=right answer every time without calc 3 methods

"That value you keep saying is there doesn't exist and its giving you the wrong answer" ->what is the correct way to do hyper real numeric calculations that accounts for infinitesimal non-zero remainders

One of my history teachers "World War 2 was insignificant to American History so we don't cover it. Now stop asking questions." the sum of ALL my history classes says apparently history stops when Lincoln gets assassinated.

"pentagonal crystal structures don't exist" -> 2 years later sit in on Shechtman (awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2011 for his work on quasicrystals) lecture of Quasicrystal very closely matching my predictions

"F=Ma, should read F=Mass it is a typo in the textbook where F represents Force" -> apparently acceleration has no part in this simple equation

"This is wrong, the melting temperature of gold is clearly stated to be 1064.18 °C at this pressure." -> what is called spending hours accounting for melting point change due to the extreme case of the high surface energy the nano powders we are working with have, taking it down to 1062.7 °C.

Teachers in general saying I don't know what I am doing. Apparently most of the time my methods are all wrong so I lose 80% of my grade, but somehow get 20% because my final answer is always right, even for the extra challenge questions.

This is no explanation of the overdose. People don't overdose from parental neglect, overdose is an acute condition resulting from the consumption of a far greater quantity of the drug than what would constitute a recreational dose.

You don't overdose on cannabis, you don't overdose on LSD, you rarely overdose on MDMA (and usually then you die from hyponatremia or else just walk the dinosaur.)

So I'm assuming you overdosed on a depressant since stimulant, psychedelic or disassociative drugs would either have killed/maimed you in overdose or not done enough to even constitute an OD. Most of the stim dinosaur walks are acute and abrupt, i.e seizures + psychosis.

I'm assuming you combined alcohol, benzodiazepenes and opiates. At least two of the three.

And you know what, bitch?

I'm a fucking heroin user.

I like gear. I've also necked my fair share of diazepam, triazolam, zopiclone, zolpidem, alprazolam, etc, etc.

But heroin rarely ever can cause an overdose by itself, and this is borne out by statistics. If you overdose on >the gear
you're either

A. Trying to kill yourself.

B. mixing depressants.

Either way, it's your own fucking fault. Nothing infuriates me more than somebody who can't accept responsibility for their own actions.

He would write on three chalk boards, and then erase one, chastising students who were slow in copying everything down.

In one segment, he explained the the planets do not fly out into space because of the gravitational pull of the sun. When a 13-year-old asked why the planets are not pulled into the sun, he could not explain because it was not part of his notes.

his reasoning was "it's a chemical reaction because it's irreversible". being reversible is not a characteristic used to determine whether something is a chemical reaction. my analogy was appropriate.

I agree with you regarding the pay of teachers, but the truth is that the reason teachers aren't paid a whole lot is because of the sheer volume of them. As supply goes up, price goes down. It is relatively easy to be a teacher today, but fairly difficult to be a good one. The problem is that we aren't all that good at rewarding the good ones.

It has more to do with them being public sector employees.

Most STEM teaching positions in my area only pull 5-12 applicants, most of which will be continuously passed over for not being good teaching candidates.

>> No.6984952

>>6984920
That's true, but that goes back to what I said about the sheer volume. It is easy to get the qualifications for a teaching job but that doesn't make you a good teacher. The ease of getting teaching qualifications is the reason there are so many teachers.

I think you come to conclusions quick.
it wasn't an accident that I was on disassociative drugs, someone in school offered me what I thought was a bottle of water, that's the accident part. it was a bottle of water filled with vodka, but I realized a bit too late due to the high dose of drugs and lack of sleep that night. took about an hour or so before I lost consciousness and they took me to the ER.
I dosed my drugs, we had google then and I used it to be informed about things like that. I still do drugs today, though not very hard ones. addictions are are manageable thing if you're aware of yourself and your addiction. the overdose was a pure accident, those people either didnt realize I was on something (which is doubtful) or they didn't know that those two should not be mixed under any circumstance (which most people don't).
and I'm not blaming my parents for the overdose, I'm blaming them for neglect. I had about a year or so of heavy drug use before that without them noticing. still love my parents very much, they did the best they could and I'm still not a parent so I can't judge really.

Or if you increase the rigor of becoming a teacher and increase pay, then smarter people will be drawn to it and the uncompitent candidates will fall off. This is what we currently see in STEM areas. Most people feel teachers aren't qualified to do other things in their field, when usually the best people in a field will make excellent teachers.

Increase the pay if you want to see better candidates enter teaching programs. Right now you either have people that want to teach, or people that can't really execute in the private sector.
