What are single cell organisms made up of if they're only one cell?

>> No.6980542

>>6980528
A cell.

>> No.6980551

>>6980542
But what is the cell itself made up of?

>> No.6980552

>>6980551
Organelles, molecules, atoms, quarks, etc.

>> No.6980553

>>6980551
membrane, mitochondria/chloroplasts, etc.
Lay off the pot, it's obviously not good for your brain.

What are those made up of?

Don't listen to this guy >>6980553. Prokaryotes lack mitochondria. They don't have membrane bound nuclei either. The dna just floats around in the cytoplasm

>> No.6980566

>>6980560
What are quarks made up of? No one knows if they even are reducible.

>>6980563
He said mitochondria/chloroplasts

Over 9000 bong hits worth of energy man.

Ugh he's right.
God dammit I never think of the prokaryotes.

>> No.6980578

So we can't currently get set than quarks?

Quarks and other elementary particles, like electrons, photons and gluons are not believed to be made of any other particles; in a sense they are made of themselves. But if you go into string theory, it is theorised that elementary particles are made up of one dimensional strings which vibrate in a certain way to create a certain elementary particle. For example, if there were two strings, one could be vibrating one way to create an electron, and the other vibrating a different way to create a quark. It's pretty interesting.

Organelles.
Their "organs" aren't made of multicellular structures like ours are, they're made of molecules that aren't arranged into individual cells like you and me..

>> No.6981472

>>6980560
Molecules, just like everything else..

>> No.6982616

>>6980528
The cell itself is the fucking organism.

Think of multicellular organisms as society of mindless drones cells working as specialized cells in order to support a greater whole.

Whereas the single celled organisms are cells are just typical cell stuff made of typical cell material (mainly water specialized complex interconnected proteins, l lipids, and DNA/RNA which react in complicated ways) but say fuck it. I'm operating on my own.

A chicken egg is a single celled organism. It has mitochondria.

eh close enough
if it's not fertilized, the yolk is a single cell yes

Damnit. Beat me to it. This ^.

It is a single cell; it is not an organism.
