Consider a large mass orbiting the Sun at a radius R. Consider a small satelite orbiting at a
position yR ( y may be greater than one and/or negative). This satelite is orbiting with the same
period and lies on the lie joining the two other objects. We are assuming that the satelite mass
does not affect the orbit of the other masses. Take all obits to be circular.

a) For the case 0 < y < 1, Consider the forces upon the satelite and equate these to the
necessary force to keep the satelite in orbit.

Can i get any help with this? Don't know where to begin. Is it right to say the force on the sattelite is GM2/yR^2 + GM1/R^2 ?

The sattelite is in between two large masses,its a 3 body system but the sattelites mass itself has no effect on the circular orbits of the other 2 masses,

i dont quite get the question.
the gravitational force on the satelite is G*(m1+m2)/yR^2+G*(m1+m3)/(R-yR)^2
m1 mass satelite, m2 mass sun, m3 mass large mass
but i dont know wheather it helps you solve the problem. its a language problem i guess
