i can't stand this stupid statement. it was never "alive" nor "dead". philosophy is the most basic human feature. it's the main distinction between us humans and other animals. we reflect our own worldview with it.

no science is possible without curiosity and the the curiosity leads to philosophical thoughts which can lead to scientifical ones.
