Are STEM fags all going to be unemployed in the next 20 years?

You fags do realize the majority of what you learn in STEM is useless on the job, right?

BTW:

There are 3 billion people in India and China (half the world population) and their economy is growing exponentially. It's a globalized economy and every second world and third world population is growing exponentially. Where do you think that will leave you when people in India, China, Afghanistan, can do your job for a 1/4 of the price?

Social skills, networking, and experience is all that matters.

If you are autistic in this new economy you are fucked.

Have fun being outsourced Engineering fags. Statistics, Engineers, and IT nerds can all easily be replaced.

Thank god I'm in Banking, none of what I do can be replaced. It's all negotiating, deals, social skills, complex strategy, and big players in the game. None of which can be replaced.

Got to an Ivy League or you're fucked.

It's all about who you know and who knows you. Don't let anybody tell you social skills don't matter. Social skills are everything. You want to bang a hot chick? You'll need social skills.

Have fun compensating and manipulating your brain into believing your ugly wife and kids are beautiful lol

So what then, you get a big house or a mansion, get a trophy wife and maybe a kid you'll not spend time with, only friends you have are co workers and people who want to go to your fancy parties and are after your money and after all that die with no contributions?

Sounds great.
Money sure buys happiness.

I am currently studying math and finance and i hope that i can work for a few years in the banking area. Just once to try it. Not really interested in banking for the rest of my life. just saying that it may be a nice experience to work in an environment like that.

I'm not OP btw.

Someone needed to feel good about their major.
So many things wrong with this post, but I'll start with needing to go to an ivy league. Hard as fuck to get into, costs a shit ton of money, and their education programs suck unless you're a liberal arts or medical major (with the exception of MIT). If you want a social experience, they're also generally the worst schools for that. Complete waste of effort, money, and time to go to an ivy league. And for what, a name that you can put on your resume? Protip, the college you went to doesn't mean shit after your first job. Go to a school that's highly rated in the area you want to study, get good grades, and you'll be just as marketable as some preppy prick with a harvard degree.

Do you honestly believe you're above your hedonistic ape-like desires? Do you honestly believe you don't desire resources, money, houses, golf trips to Argentina, sex, or jet-skis? Because deep down you know the truth. Regardless of your philosophy you're as ape-like as nearly every human that walks on this earth. This frustrates you, but it's true.

Short-term happiness does not contribute to long-term happiness. But short-term happiness does seem to fill the void for awhile. Yet when did philosophy make anybody happy? Socrates was rumored to be a miserable human being.

I contribute to charities, political organizations, and help as many people out as I can. I feel like I've accomplished more in my lifetime and done more for humanity than a Physicist?

How often do Physicists help the poor? How often do Physicists actually make a difference in somebody life? The truth is, for most Physicists they'll never contribute to any cause.

I derive immediate short-term happiness from completing a mathematical problem or learning something or making a discovery. Most people who are here do as well. There's no reason for me to put effort into an area I have no interest in because it might earn me more money or might get me more respect in my community, because there are jobs readily available in something I AM interested, that pay well enough to live comfortably. The only reason I don't sit alone at home and study all day as a ``job'' is because I need to eat and drink, and live somewhere, if all those were guaranteed and I didn't get a cent more, I would do it gladly.

Well, actually it's your jobs that are most easily done by computers, so guess who's gonna lose their jobs first. Also, nobody gives a fuck about your social-skills bla bla, social skills don't get work done. And Engineering in third world countries is super-shitty, so no big outsourcing here.

Actually the higher you go up in the corporate world, including engineering the more extroverted people are. You need social skills to manage people and run a business. You need social skills and communication skills to understand what people value to create your own business.

Complex social skills mean everything in finance. Complex social skills mean everything in litigation. Your a fool if you actually believe we're even close to computers reaching near human levels in communication and social skills.

You can't replace social skills, creativity, and some complex hand-eye movements. (auto mechanics won't be replaced for sometime)

I'm kind of curious: could you outsource my job?

I work for the county - I go to building sites and judge if they are geologically safe to build on. You can do a lot of the job with just a topo map, but there are some things that you actually have to see in person.
