So Im pretty bad at science, Im learning radioactive decay in class and learned that after 2 half lives occur the parent daughter ratio is 1:3. The parent isotope is 25% and daughter 75%. Why isnt the ratio 1:4 after this?

Look up "ratios," you should probably review how they work.

The ratio of the parent to the TOTAL is 1:4. The ratio of the parent to the DAUGHTER is 1:3. There's a difference.

Thanks for the reply I sort of get it now, 1 is the parent and 3 is the daughter, and when added up equal to the total. im thinking of the parent to the total which is an entirely different expression
