How far away are we from safe functional synthetic wombs for humans? What would the implications of such a technological breakthrough be? I'm thinking mass reproduction facilities a la Brave New World.

A long way away.

I don't see the advantages of such a system, besides people who want to have kids but are not fit to conceive/ give birth themselves.

Seems to sci-fi to me for a 'mass-production' of human beings.. Not to mention it'd take the fun out of sex. Come on man, just let people fuck and have a good time.

Making healthy children while being cheaper and more reliable than human mother is very far.

Conventional womb is tuned by hundreds of millions of evolution to deliver the best under changing conditions.
