The next 10 years are going to be amazing to watch unfold. Yeah, right now it's a loud, unsteady expensive piece of shit. But so where the first computers, and look at what we have now.
Give it another 10 years- fuck, even another 5- and these things are going to be fucking amazing.

I pretty much agree. Seeing the thing in slow motion, I was blown away at how fluid and organic it was (it's still really crude) compared to previous legged robots.

So what are the potential applications for this technology?

>transporting gear/ goods over long distances.
>weapons platform.
>surveillance.
>reconnaissance.
>minesweepers.

Am I missing anything?

So could we mount a fucking machine gun on this thing's back. The top speed so far is 16kmph, which is impressive for a robot.

Yes, I know. And the "knees" in rear are technically heels, anatomically-speaking.

Doesn't change the fact that it looks goofy as fuck and is mechanically different from the majority of quadrapedal animals.

Attach a fail-safe electrode connected to a human-controlled trigger, so in the case of a malfunction, you can kill it remotely. Also a warning system inside a separate on-board computer

Google at founding:
>search engines have migrated from the academic domain to the commercial. Up until now most search engine development has gone on at companies with little publication of technical details. This causes search engine technology to remain largely a black art and to be advertising oriented
>We expect that advertising funded search engines will be inherently biased towards the advertisers and away from the needs of the consumers.

>battery
there is no battery, it uses a gasoline engine and gas tank which gives it ~30 minutes run time.

This isn't because batteries or gasoline engines suck, this is because hydraulic actuators suck in terms of efficiency. Switching to electric actuators would increase runtime due to increased efficiency.

The thing is, we already have submarines as mobile platforms to launch nukes at anybody we want without detection. That's one thing I never understood about the Metal Gear universe. Why was a mobile nuclear silo such a big deal to them when submarines serve the same purpose in the real world?

>>6408245
BUT IT LOOKS SO FUCKING COOL ANON AND IT ROARS!

>>6408247
Yeah. I don't even want to imagine that thing running 30 mph at me on a battlefield with a turret on its back. It could happen. Just imagine the psychological aspect of that for an enemy combatant. These things aren't programmed to fear unlike humans who have a strong sense of self preservation.
