At what age did you really start putting effort into school?

I think my senior year of high school. By then, it was too late.

Never

Before I entered uni I was always disciplined and tried to at least complete everything on time and correctly. If this is your definition of effort, from day 1. As far as studying goes, eeeh, not really much effort put into that, but I managed. The middle of the 1st year of uni is where shit got real and I started taking studying more seriously, because I realized how colossal my mathematical ineptitude was.

14.
I just didn't care, but then the hand of God slapped me in the face and said, "Eh, better do some work else you'll be suckin' dick for dinner."

So now I'm doing Bachelors degree in genetic engineering.

21, 3rd year in grad school at a top uni.

Yeah, I'm pretty fucking smart.

>> No.6169436

Somewhere between grades 11 and 12. I realized that I actually had some potential and if I didn't want to be as poor and uneducated as my parents I would need to put forth effort with my education.

>> No.6169456

I didn't need to put effort. Never studied for a test in my life. Always curve stomped the class.

Not started yet (19yo)

>> No.6169590

1st year of PhD and I haven't started putting effort in yet. I'm doing what's expected, but nothing more.

Really starting to worry this might bite me in the ass some time soon. Can't muster up the self-control to sort my shit out.

>> No.6169597

When I started my PhD, meaning I put in 8-16hrs per week.

Depends on your adviser. If your adviser thinks you should live in the office like every chinese student does, then you'll be expected to as well. They'll complain until you do and if you don't you'll most likely just get dropped.

that glorious feel when doing the PhD from home and coffee shops. Most meetings over Skype.

>> No.6169697

junior in college, biomed engineering major.

i still don't start assignments until a few hours before they're due, miss assignments, pass stuff in late, occasionally miss exams and have to make them up, and don't study for most tests.

>> No.6170081

Like 23. Focused on drugs n bitches up until then, now I'm about to finish my bs. Late start for sure, but at least I lived life a bit, with the pussy and drugs n all.
