Do people actually think about where their lives are leading them? We’re all conditioned to believe that we need a house, a car, an 18 carat monstrosity of a diamond ring, who’s 4 figure price tag is suppose to symbolise another persons life-long dedication to exclusively being with us.
The odds of people deciding this independently, exclusively through their own desire, away from the influence of the outside world, are astronomical. The sheer amount of people that hold these things in such high esteem would lead somebody less acquainted with 20th century materialism to believe that this is the essential nature of the human experience.
Surely we're not that bad?

Marriage is for fucking chumps.

In the US, over half of marriages will end in divorce.

40% of men will reproduce in their lifetimes, and over 50% of all marraiges end in divorce, therefore any given man has around a 20% chance of raising his own kid in a two-parent family home.

The probability of a chick having a kid is about 80%. The chances she will have custody and raise that kid is probably similarly high.

How many generations is this society going to survive where the vast majority of children are raised by this crop of materialist consumer whores?
