Greetings /sci/

I've exiled myself from /b/ in hopes of pursuing a higher education. I'm currently 24 years old and have started going over basic chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics textbooks.

After years of procrastinating I can't help but wonder if at this age my brain will be able to undertake a higher education.

I can see how this question stems from my years of procrastinating but would like to implore you for wisdom if my learning capacity is salvageable.

Thank you anons.

I wouldn't set your my hopes too high, considering you just failed at posting a thread in 4chan.

I would just go back to /b/ and try to fap to some loli or something.

In a more serious note though your probably fine, you can still learn shit if you actually want.
It just requires some actual work, and frankly lolis sound better than that.

I had two tabs open accident post, I know it doesn't help my cause lol.

I'm actually aiming for medicine next year. The level of study is that of high school or year 12. I feel its definitely achievable.

A family friend of mine completed a science degree then gained entry into undergraduate medicine. She would have been 22 years old. A few years younger than my however the majority of her cohort would have been 18 year old school leavers.

Medicine is a 5 years undergraduate program. The entrance is 93 plus in my country. Its actually 99 however I'm from a low income family and the area I live in so its only 93 for me.

This is something I feel I can truly achieve and will give meaning to my life. If I shame away from a higher education and better life what will it all matter anyway what other people think.

I appreciate the pragmatic responses.

Good show. You've taken the first step. Now never go back there.

You're still young and fully capable of learning anything you want.

Thank you anon. I hear of mature age students going back to changing their vocation. When my cousin was undertaking undergraduate medicine his house mate was in his mid 30's. The man had changed over from finance and realized he wanted to study medicine.

What bothers me though is that he already had a base to begin with. Having studied law/finance he had already overcome many mental hurdles.

Frequenting /b/ and the internet in general has only set more obstacles in my path. However I'm willing to overcome them. If I fail I would have rather tried than never have known.

Even without a higher education I'll be stuck in lower end jobs that don't require skill, cashier, supermarkets for the rest of my life.

If you believe you can't then you will stop yourself.
Believe in yourself and work your ass off.
If you work hard you can even surpass other "younger" people.

My plan was to just say I was already studying a science degree. Once I'm in the undergrad med program I'm bound to find other people of my age if not older!

I highly doubt I would come out and outright tell the truth that I've spend the years after high school procrastinating and working lower end jobs.

I have a big head start at the moment. I'll be completing my final year yr at the end of next year. As long as I focus now and cover most of the material next year will be spend just revising for exams. The difficult part is staying on track and keeping myself motivated.

It's really hard dealing with the emotional aspect of having to back track so much and spend a whole year to get the marks for university entrance especially since most of my friends have made promising careers in law and finance.

Could you recommend any programs to help me study better and improve my time management?

The only thing you can do in imporove your self-disipline.
One good strategy is to always have a schedule you keep looking at. Plan ahead how much time you want to spend on studying and how much time you leave for leisure, don't exceed your planned leisure time.
