ok so I admit I'm a filthy casual, and I don't frequent this board, but HOLY FUCK
how have we NOT BEEN BACK TO THE MOON!!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?

>> No.6005429

Why would we go back?

what the fuck. why wouldn't we. as if there aren't numerous things to study on the moon.

>> No.6005442

Back? We've never been there.

There's more things to study on Earth.

name some and why they can't be done with robots, with telescopes or with orbiters.
tell me why they are so important.
convince me why they are worth the money and risk.
Use serious examples.

I'll take a stab at that challenge, even though I'm not the guy you're replying to.

I'd say a moon base is a pretty important step in our expansion to the cosmos. The materials present on the moon would allow us to construct spacecraft there, thus saving on fuel expense.

The Valkyrie project calls for large amounts of solar powered particle accelerators on the moon by 2075. Those PAs will be used to create anti-matter as fuel for Valkyrie. It's actually a pretty fascinating read.

What's paranormal about humans eventually settling the moon? lol

no Helium-3 yet.
is there lots of easy access aluminum there?
> anti-matter
so you want to go there...before we have any sort of engine that can use the stuff on the moon...

the only thing the moon has right now is no atmosphere and a sixth of the gravity so less rocket fuel will be needed.
Right now we are working on solutions that will work on Earth with the materials we do have.

we have, we just noticed that sending humans was massively more expensive than sending probes.

The reference to anti-matter was toward an actual NASA program code named "Valkyrie". You should look it up.

I found no such thing.
