Hey /sci/, math failure here hoping for some help. I'm starting a new job soon and trying to decide which mileage reimbursement program would be best for me. What's the equation I would use in order to figure out at how many miles the profit would be equal/which plan is better?

Plan A: $0.22/mile + $500 flat/month
Plan B: $0.56/mile

For the purposes of simplicity, let's assume my car gets 32mpg, has a 14.5 gallon tank, and it costs me $55 to refill the tank (is this info even important? I have nfi)

Please help me figure out the formula I would use to calculate how many miles I would have to drive for plan B to earn me more because I cannot into basic algebra

So it's a difference of $0.34/mile vs. $500.

500/.34 = 1500

So it's equal if you drive 1500 miles a month. Plan A is better if you drive less, Plan B if more.

I know it looks like homework but no, I'm long out of school and (theoretically) educated enough to be able to figure this out. BTW I drive a 2012 Mazda3 (itouring w/Skyaktiv engine), the specs will match up if anyone cares enough to check
