What do HR people do when they see what university you graduated from?

Do they go "Oh this guy's uni was shit, lets hire the guy from better university"

Do they have a list of universities they won't hire from/will discriminate against?

I don't think so. I think most of them care about how you will fare in the work place and your experience.

Do you know when companies take in interns?

I'm a chem major, should I do it after second year?
That counts toward experience doesn't it?

I'm not so certain about the hard sciences. But the one thing I wish I did in college was more internships. Would probably be in a better position now. The only advice I can give on that is try to get them as early and as often as possible.

It doesn't matter unless you're fresh out of college.

If you've got relevant work experience or special accomplishments, that takes precedence over everything.

>12 experience
*12 years experience

People have certain experiences from different universities. If a company hires 5 people from university A and 5 from university B, and all the people from university A perform relatively better, obviously future grads applying from that university are going to have a heads up.

Also, >that feel having an excellent alumni network

That feel when you're an EE graduate and now have 2 years of work experience.

I can now apply for entry level jobs!
