Intelligence is how good you are with solving problems and/or creativity. As such, IQ is a very bad indicator because people can be intelligent in completely different areas. For instance I am very good with physics and math , but it takes me hours to write a couple paragraphs for an essay. So while I probably have a much higher IQ than the average English major, I'm sure they could beat at writing papers/stories any day of the week.

tl;dr IQ is bullshit because it doesn't take into account that people can be intelligent in completely different things.

I am not sure why some people can't accept they have brains that work better than other people. /sci/ seems to have some of this and it is silly.
Some people are stupid, their brains just don't work very well. They can't grasp simple ideas, they can only do the simplest of tasks after hours of coaching. For some people even flipping burgers is a challenge. These people preform badly on IQ tests.
I accept that an IQ is not perfect but it is a good rough guide for how well a brain functions.
Stop saying that my IQ score of 130 does not mean that I am more intelligent than a person who has an IQ score of 70 this is ridiculous.

I am sure you have met some truly stupid people. They can't do anything requiring cognitive ability well. Basic maths is a struggle and writing a story is hard for these people. They get low IQ scores.
I am sure you have met intelligent people who can run circles around you when it comes to story writing or can kick your ass at chess but have problems with advanced mathematics. These people get high IQ test scores.

well my buddy sucked ass at regular algebra and was ok a writing. he had an average iq and still graduated college (albeit in business). he was generally bad at school and tests but he knew a ton about computers and programming

I.Q. is only a quantified measure of success and possibly problem solving and speed of learning. a person with a low iq will easily been more intelligent than say a lifelong stoner with a high iq if he devotes alot of time to study

Integrated Information Theory is the best theory we have to explain consciousness/intelligence. It directly measures a system's consciousness the number of interrelated bits in a system. Our brains have the highest level of consciousness that we know of by this definition, many orders of magnitude greater than, say, a cat.

Going with the 1994 definition as released by 52 researchers on intelligence, rather than my own made up definition:
