Why don't they combine the solar and wind into a hybrid model? You know those windmills? Use solar photovoltic devices to capture solar energy while at the same time use the wind mills to capture wind power. The energy produced would be much more(effectively doubling (normal wind+normal solar)). Plus the fact that spinning fan reduces the heat and increases the efficiency.

Sounds like a win/win doesn't it?

I've already tried it - theoretically at uni class (Majoring Engineering). The fucking material solar panels are made of aren't good for the windmills fans. They break. Something to do with the Young Module of the material itself.

Not OP but what about graphene. It's harder than diamond and it makes great solar panels. It will have to be when graphene mass producing is posible.

you're an idiot

while smart people are working on ways to improve the efficiency of solar panels to a point where we can power the entire planet just by replacing 10% of the roofspace of our buildings with solar panel arrays, you're arguing for the "alarmclock radio" of renewable energy.

fan blades are a really, really dumb place to put fragile solar panels.

Why not just coat the regular blades with solar material instead of making it out of solar material entirely?

Graphene. Strongest bonding known to man

you should probably actually read about graphene instead of just sticking it wherever you need (?mystery wonder material?)
the wiki page is a good place to start, lots of numbers

We should just pave the streets with solar panels instead.
