Sup /sci/entists so i'm 18 and thinking of apply to universities for Biology, what kind of high paying jobs do you think i would be able to get with a masters in a biology related subject?

Mostly sanitary or diseases related fields.

In South America it's somewhat easy to get a job on environmental research to the point that a great part of the group of researches where I work are Americans or Europeans.

Haha. Hahaha. No.

As someone who used to be a chemistry major, absolutely not. If you want a mathematically rigorous science, it's physics or bust.

i studied biology, maths. physics and chemistry at A level and got 4 A's, i just like biology the best really. It isn't a matter of i can't do the other sciences.

Also, forget your school grades. They have zero bearing on how you'll do in university. Unless you are a literal genius, you're gonna have to work your ass off to succeed in the sciences.

It's not just a "course", if you pick the major that is "Biology" you're going to hinder yourself massively. There are dozens of subsets in biology that have their own majors, look at what prospective schools have to offer. Straight Biology is only helpful for people that are into animal sciences, if you want to get into research then it is NOT the major for you.

I honestly don't know why more people don't go the vet route other than the "Muh prestige!" thing. The pay and hours are excellent, the only downside is that pre-vet is hard as fuck and getting into a vet schools is one of the hardest professional schools to get into.

>The pay and hours are excellent
Ha ha ha. Nope.

The pay is shit unless you are doing equine, and the hours are incredibly unforgiving (especially if you are doing farm).

The only half-good reason anyone should study Biology at university is for pre-dental and pre-med and even then dental and medical schools only take the very very very top of class students because so many biology majors apply to them.

>> No.5848281

>>5848161
That's... not really true. Depending on the school you can have some pretty diverse electives to choose from. You can focus your elective courses on the subject you are more interested in, be it genetics, molecular, ecology, etc. Schools will have bigger/better programs for a certain subfield, sure, but that shouldn't mean that you will immediately be shoehorned into "animal sciences".

You really need to look over the schools specific undergrad catalog though. Sometimes there will be more than one type of Biology major though (that is, some will be more specific towards a certain subfield), so if you choose the more general major you may not be able to enroll in some of the courses offered to the more specialized major, since the school's department need to try and differentiate themselves enough to justify their separate funding.
