An old friend of mine has recently told me that he believes in free energy, masonic conspiracies, chemtrails, gay lobby, UFO, all kinds of stupid shit. I spent a month explaining to him how he is fucking retarded, but he didn't listen to reason. I told him to fuck off and never contact me again, ever.
He is probably a closet faggot in denial obsessed with his guilty anal fantasies.

OP I have several of these friends. I think everyone has. These are uneducated people who just want to understand the world, just like you. They don't have any means to understand the world and therefore defer to conspiracy theories. I've often pondered the correlation between gullibility (or lack of critical thinking) and IQ but I haven't found any substantial evidence for any connection between the two.

Live and let live, I suppose. If you believe you are smarter than your friend, then keep that fact to your self. That's what I do when I sincerely believe that I am smarter than someone who I am arguing with.

If you are indeed a smart person (high amount of critical thinking, vast amount of practical knowledge, good spatial/memory skills) then I theorize that you will often find yourself keeping things to yourself to keep from embarrassing friends and even foes with facts that should seem trivial. That's my experience, but I have no proof that I am smarter than most other people. I just find myself keeping things that I know to be true, to myself as to refrain from ridiculing other people.

Any thoughts on my "theory?"

Gosh I guess you so-called "scientists" don't know anything about the world at all!

That's what most people should be doing if they are indeed of higher calibre than others. Nescient beings will always try to be the one who is always right without trying to visualize every given concept. On the other hand people that are able to understand topics that are less known are able to comprehend with them because they are able to understand their path of behaviour.
So you have to understand what their capacity is and have to acknowledge that structure of theirs. If you don't you will have a less social standing in society that will kind of ruin your social pattern.
This anon clearly knows what he is talking about. All you have to do OP is nod and smile and continue thinking about the topics that you want to focus on.

To clarify what I am saying here:

I get the same feeling that you get when you speak to a child, when I speak to many adults about subjects where they claim this and that to be true. You know they are wrong and you conjecture that you are "smarter" than these people at least on the topic that you are discussing. Much like with almost every topic discussed with a child. You don't blame a child for being wrong and neither do you snap at a child and over-encumber them with "facts" about a subject which they wrongfully claim some truth to. This is the same mentality that I often feel with adults.
As this scenario keeps repeating with a specific adult, you start feeling that you are smarter than them seeing as you keep getting the feeling of adult vs. child when engaged in educated discussions. My girlfriend for example sincerely believes that she is smart, and she sure is, on many levels, but critical thinking is not one of her strong sides. She also has a problem accepting that she is wrong, even when arguing a point or field which is trivial to me but unknown to her. Instead she will regurgitate an old advice she got from her grandma and let that dictate her opinion on the subject at hand. I will sincerely feel that she has to be stupid...Just for a second, but I will not blame her. I will love her just the same and I will shut up. I realize that she may not understand my knowledge on the subject and she will be none the wiser if I try to lecture her with advanced ideas. I keep my mouth shut and hug her. Much like you would with a child that you love much dearly.
