wikipedia has a good explanation. Essentially monomial is just an expression with a single term being say x^n, n is nonnegative integer for just a single variable. Binomial is the sum of two monomials (probably has to be of different powers)

a monomial is x, 3x, x^2, etc. monomials are separated by +s or -s. so a 4x+2 is a binomial. 4x^2 + 5x +2 is a TRInomial, and so on.
