guys, I'm planning to study computer science.
How does a computer scientific helps other scientist?

Sorry for being a high schooler.

can I build stuff that helps other scientist like biologist or doctors?
could you please give me examples of what a computer science does that a software engineer don't?

you get really cozy with some other scientists, learn all the shit they have to learn, on top of some other shit only computer scientists learn that the other niggers you'll get real cozy with could just look up in a goddamn book or on wikipedia, so basically you could do everything they could do, except you won't, because you lack the qualifications; instead you'll just do their homework. on a positive note, they'll write the papers on the results and may or may not cite you because effectively you're just a slave working for them.

Write shitty code.
Incorrectly cite complexity theory.
Live in their mother's basement.
Have Japanese sex pillows with 12 year old girls on them.

Since everyone on /sci/ seems to hate CS for no good reason, I'll go ahead and tell you what a CS major is like. If you're in HS and you're taking PreCalc in your senior year, college will suck for you.
Anyway:
You will take any of the following math classes: Calc 1, 2, 3, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, Combinatorics, Number Theory, Set Theory, Stats 1 or 1 and 2.
You can take a shitload of CS classes (depends on where you are at): Intro to OOP, Intro to Data Structures and Algorithms, 3-4 programming classes, and then based on what you specialize, another 2-3 CS classes (these are basically math classes with some coding in them), and then 2-3 more programming classes.

Computer Scientists are mostly math people who are good at it, and don't want to enter into the industry. These guys usually minored in math or at least very good and competent in it.

Software Engineers are dudes who want to make cash instead of doing grad school, and have gone to work in industry. Pay ranges depends a shitload where you live, but it can range from 50k - 110k starting salary.

Most of your undergrad will be math/CS classes + programming classes. You're going to be doing a lot of stuff, so make sure to keep your head on straight.

CS people do research. Research on AI, robotics, algorithm development, and more. It's cool stuff, but doesn't pay super well. Software Engineers just write code that is efficient for companies. That's about it.

CS is solving problems with computers. Example, you go to a school and advise them on how to digitalise their systems.
SEng is solving those problems with code. Example, the CS guy already visited the school and now you're coding his digital solution.

If you weren't a high schooler, you'd know that physicists and mathematicians are best buddies 4 lyf aside from the fact that mathematicians use some retarded notation for differential geometry
