hey guys, I'm taking Calculus 1 this summer for a seven week course. I have taken pre calc last semester but i'm still kind of scared because of what everyone says about the classes difficulty. Whats the best way i can prepare myself?

No need, it's not hard at all, and you're a pussy

Basically know trig really well because you will need to recall stuff on the fly with no formula sheet to answer questions.

The first thing you usually cover is limits and then derivatives.

For derivatives they really dont want you to learn anything, its just memorizing how to take the derivative of a given expression based on a bunch of rules.

And the very end is doing reverse derivatives (integration).

That doesn't seem that bad. I'm guessing I
m just getting this "difficulty" information from retards then.

Try some online shit like khanacademy.org if you want to get a simple understanding of some things you want. Hell, I could explain some of the simpler things if you want, like limits and derivatives.

Personally, the only thing I actually found hard about Calculus 1 was optimization and related rates. But other than that, it's all just logical.

I think I'll watch a few videos on that site then. The class is in ten days i figure that's plenty of time to go over shit and review.

Read this post. Calc 1 is basically
- limits
- continuity
- derivatives
- integrals

Get comfortable with limits. It's like a value that something is always trying to get to, forever, and the thing always gets closer to that value.

A function is continuous at a given point C when the value of the function at that point agrees with what the surrounding function "expects" the value there to be, that is, the value f(C) equals the limit of f(x) as x approaches C.

Learn the power rule for derivatives and use it to solve practice problems sometimes, for example, what is the equation of the tangent line (for a given function and a given value of x).

Make sure you remember your trig functions because they are going to throw those in for some problems, and you will have to memorize their derivatives later.

Calc 1 is not so bad if you prepare a little.
