yeah I'm not taking it, because it seemed like a really fucking stupid idea to skip calc 1 in college. Purdue would whip my ass.

I could nail these problems if I just had a computer to do these integrals. Why do I have to do them by hand? Why?

I know that feel, bro. I'll probably do fine.

Semi-related, how'd everyone do on the AP Chem? And which of those oxides at the start of the MC was amphoteric?

Yo you should skip calc 1 but not 2 unless you dont actually want to understand calc 2.

If you are a premed go for testing out of it, though.

>tfw the question I got wrong was because I wrote down a 2 instead of a 3 because I couldn't read how messy my writing was from the previous step
I literally felt like killing myself for that, and it happens on every fucking test I get.

>> No.5741936

I'm tutoring a student for AP calc and the hoops they have students jump on the free response are just ridiculous. Also, why the hell do they have you memorize the derivatives for inverse trig functions, and then arbitrarily choose integrals for you to solve with a calculator?

we are all scared before exams, but relax dude, when the time gets, you senses will be more alert, and you will check everything as you advance on the exam.

>> No.5742071

the curve for the BC exam is ridiculous. i've taken 3 practice tests and on all of them i've had enough points for a 3 from just the MC and enough for a 5 from just MC+1 part of FRQ

if you don't get a 5 you should not opt out of college calc even if the college accepts a 3 or 4

>> No.5742076

I'm only taking the AB, but the curve for a lot of the AP tests is ridiculous. In Calc, I need about 60% I think, for a 5.

Physics C, I need a 55% for a 5 and 41% for a 4.

>> No.5742121

Even if you get 100% on the AP exam, take Calc 1 in college anyway, and get a free A. Your GPA will thank you.

Calc AB fag here, school doesn't offer anything higher
>nobody in my class actually understands what the fuck they are doing, just memorize what to do for certain problems
>not even studying because I actually know what an integral does
I'll be taking Calc 1 over most likely, but I have a very solid understanding of all of the material. Always forgetting negative signs and things like that though.
you only need around a 48% overall for a 3

>> No.5742148

>>5742121
Agreed.
You can take the class for an easy A and you can get paid to tutor people in the class.

My friend's brother who majored in some form of engineering at UVA took calculus 2 freshmen year of college. Because he didn't take calculus 1 at university calc 2 was hard for him.
He later repeated the class with an easy A but retaking courses looks bad.

WELCOME TO COLLEGE.

Wasted so many semesters trying to "get" Calculus. Found out the hard way that A students just memorize and grind it out.

AB fag here too.

Stop caring for Calculus midway in the year with around a B-. Took it at a community college and I'm about to finish with a high A. Feels good that I won't have to take another year of math. (Yeah I'm stopping at Calc 1 so what I'm going into nursing)

pro tip 2 of college: take all math classes at community colleges. The content isn't that much different but at your uni the ramp up the difficulty just to be dicks and has no education benefits .

Yeah I'm glad I made the decision. I may have wasted near $600 but it was worth it to me.

I also decided to take Chemistry at a community college. I knew the subject and didn't want to repeat it in freshmen year.

I will probably continue to take a few courses at a CC such as organic chemistry when the time comes.
