Is that a prelude that we are going to be completely cruel and unethical towards A.I.s when they come ti be?

I know anthropocentrism seems harmless now that non-human sapience is just theory, but hell I'd hate to be in robots' position when that time comes.

It's not so much that we'll drag them into the streets and disassemble them. At best, we'll just treat them like pets. Cute, subhuman, creatures like cats, dogs, dolphins, etc.

But I think we will incorporate robotic limbs and organs before a true AI ever comes to be.

>> No.5732826

If we somehow prove we've got a genuinely sapient AI on our hands, there will be new laws and stuff passed to protect them I imagine. But then there's the people who believe laws are meant to be broken...

Speculating about the ethical use of technologies that don't exist yet is pointless. We'll figure it out when we et ther.

Humans have always put themselves on a pedestal over anything else, what else would you expect?

we'll just have to prepare to adapt our laws to apply to robots proportionate to the level of sentience their technology allows them to achieve.

"mind" or consciousness is just a software running at middle to low priority in a sandbox, it is also extremely overrated software.

This.
There is literally no difference a human trying to prove his sapience and a future human-like intelligence trying to prove his.

It really isn't that complex, humans are nothing more that biological machines, just a basic understanding of neuroscience can show all that.

we are biological machines so awesome that we can comprehend and value ourselves and others.

You're seriously over-estimating the influence of religious fanaticism.

Unless you're saying Iran will have AI machines walking the streets at night. In the West, there will be public debate and/or protest at best. If you think some whitebread Christians will leave their suburban home to go fight robots, you're a delusional /r/atheism babby. When is the last time Westboro killed some faggy soldiers? When did someone kill a dolphin because there was research released that showed dolphins being near-human behavior?

>muh abortion clinic bombings

Exceedingly rare compared to real religious zealotry in the Middle-East.

>> No.5733203

>>5733178
No, it's just fucking concise and applies to every other debate as well, especially if you've been doing mathematical proofs lately.

>> No.5733215

>>5733193
You don't think there will be strong opposition to the concept of artificial minds?
Westboro doesn't kill gays, because it's illegal. They'd be put in prison or executed. Nobody kills dolphins for no reason, because it is difficult and not everyone believes animals have no soul. Killing AI will not be illegal for a long time. If you can basically buy a robot and destroy it at will, because it's your property, some people will do it, whether it's to establish one's belief, sadism, experimentation or whatever.
