The group of people who I disagree with are wrong, silly, childish, and delusional. The group who I agree with are intelligent, rational, and fulfilled people.

Can you guess which group is which just from my description?

well the question is who is who?

A great mythology for westerners to read, has some great parables that really apply to our social structures. Priests are often fantastic philosophers

>christianity

A mixed bag. Theyve done lots of charitable work, but theres been some serious bullshit that happened in the name of christianity. As all religions, its a combination of lower class seeking security and safety, and the upper class seeking an easy means of exploitation.

The real problem with actually believing in a religion: There are too many to choose from, and many of them are compelling. Its hard to not realize that your religion is just a matter of your geography

Imagine a man offers you an infinite amount of straws and you choose one at random. The man claims that one of these straws will grant you eternal life. Inside the straw is a contract by which you must live your life if you want the straw to fulfil its end of the bargain.

Atheists win by not playing the game to begin with.

I'm not sure. You're either A. a delusional christian. Or B. A sensible atheist

The main problems with religions is that they're fictional stories to 'explain' natural, explainable events; eg, Norse mythology created a Thor to explain lightning/thunder. Meaning that once they've lived out their usefulness (usually a few hundred years, when modern sciences come in), they SHOULD be dropped for a more modern outlook.

UNFORTUNATELY, Christianity was just a fucked up autistic kid that just fucking stuck around in the education system and won't fucking stop making his retard/velociraptor screech every time you try to stop him from eating lead-based paint. It doesn't really help explain anything, except how you should not piss daddy off and stay out of eternal damnation.

But by that logic, there's still a chance of picking the right straw so long as you play the game.

Also, that's a terrible metaphor.

Igtheism:
If you don't define your terms they you cannot have a logical argument on the subject.
"God" is a pretty poorly defined term and all attempts at a definition includes words like "Infinite" or "omnipresent" which would put the subject outside the possibility of human understanding."

Not yet anyway.

religion is obselete as a source of truth. religion can however give a sense of meaning and social belonging. I myself recently studyied physical cosmology and now i've figured the only thing that makes sense to me is to use my life to aid and/or observe evolution of species. the same sense of meaning is likely achievable through religion or other philosophies as buddhism. except the resulting meaning may differ of course.
