I need to get at least a pre-med understanding of medicine. I'm guessing this would just be biology, anatomy and chemistry. Any suggestions for reading material or topics that I should know?

So, you want some basic science and no knowledge of medicine?

I'm not sure what pre-med entails which is mainly what I want to find out. I've only taken a few biology and chemistry courses during undergrad, but I don't know much about medicine. I'm assuming pre-med would give me a better understanding, or are there some more complex topics that I should be working up to?

Anyone in med school willing to give me a basic outline of topics?

/sci/ is not medicine.

That said, study for the CAT or the LSAT or the DMV IV or whatever you fuckers study for now a days. Specific per-med programs are not necessary.

surely anatomy, physiology, biology and chemistry are part of science.

Yes. Please discuss science topics such as natomy, physiology, biology and chemistry.

"How do I get into medical school" is science.

most of your pre-med stuff will be basic anatomy, organic chemistry, some regular chemistry, microbiology, and so on. You learn the specific stuff in medical programs.

I would recommend taking courses at your local community college. There is a vast amount of information.

Thank you, I have taken organic chemistry classes already, as well as microbiology. Maybe I'm ready for some med school type topics. Anyone know of some specific intro to med school topics that I can study on my own, I would rather not take classes for this, I'm just learning for my own interest.

Medical terminology is always a bonus, and lots of medical programs either require or recommend it. Since they don't teach Latin anymore, a terminology class can really help you differentiate between nephropexy and renorrhapy.
