Hello /sci/!

So I'm working on on a short-story right now and for dramatic action I would like the sun to be slowly dying out and turning black.

However! That's not how a star works!!

So I came to ask, how can I make it sound scientifically possible that the sun was just theoretically a star but never actually was? Something to support the drama for this without sounding stupid?

I currently just have that it's made of some form of lava/magma mix and that it's never died out before because of reusing its own heat.

Thank you /sci/.

hey op here's an idea
what if the sun was never really a star but a ball of energy called a cypon that was used to catalyse human life by giant aliens with webbed fingers and ctluthu-esque faces that would feed on the human race when the population grew enough and it's up to a mathematical genius and his trusty robot dog to save the day in this light-speed passing spaceship that he invented

Have you put any thought into what would happen if a sun made out of ice hit our sun? (that is, what would happen if a sun made out of ice hits a sun made out of lava)

Why not just substitute your very stupid idea for Nuclear Winter?

Why don't you have the sun, you know, go through that Red Giant Phase? I am pretty sure an expanding ball of plasma devouring planets whole (sorry Mercury, Venus, Earrrrr......) would be "dramatic."

Google, "stars." Might give you some ideas.
