If you guys are all so smart then tell me this.

If light is a wave, what is it waving?

waving photons

that isn't a real website

Don't forget. Summer is almost here. When in doubt, sweat it out!

NO.. REALLY??!?!?!?

if you're so smart, then tell me this.

if light doesnt have mass, but is affected by gravity, HOW DID CATHOLICS EVER MEET IT?

>> No.5527871

>>5527856
Are the photons light, or is the wave of the photons light?

>> No.5527872

It's not, light is spinning along the axis it's moving in. It only waves if you look at 2D slices or interference

>>5527866
I highly doubt the first thing a high schooler thinks when schools out is "hey, I think Im going to troll an imageboard about science snd math today"

Maybe /b/, maybe /v/, but /sci/? Hah.

but why would it make an interference pattern?

one photon spinning one way and the other in the counter wise spin

/sci/ only gets trolled by the one idiot who put "sage" in the email field once and forgot to take it down. he's here every single day, for the whole day.

he is doing his degree in trolling, and from what i can tell, he started about a month ago, and has improved significantly since his first attempt (i mean, he couldnt've gotten any worse)

its a shame he bothers with sage, he would be able to retain his anonymity if he could just shitpost in threads without sageing them, and NOONE would even think that it was the same person making all the shitposts in /sci/...

>> No.5527909

>>5527896
so how can photons and anti-photons exist in the same field?

>> No.5527912

>>5527884

because interference patterns have NOTHING TO DO WITH LIGHT.

interference patterns happen because the which path information doesnt exist unless it is measured, the photon passes through both slits at the same time like a wave.

thats where the "two places at once" bullshit comes from

>> No.5527914

>>5527909

well, why does water rush out, exposing the seabed, just before a tsunami hits?

it is energy passing through a medium. that energy can be negative, or positive

thats about as "simple laymans terms" as it can get

>> No.5527919

>>5527914
but wouldn't the positive photons repel the negative photons thus deconstructing the wave?

>> No.5527920

>>5527912
yeah, so how can one photon exist in two places when its just one photon?

>> No.5527965

>>5527909
The photon is its own antiparticle.

>> No.5527969

>>5527920
It doesn't. The photon is in a superposition of position states. This doesn't mean there are two of them. What it means is that the question "where is the photon" is not well-defined.

And here I was thinking /sci/ was at least marginally smarter than the rest of 4chan.

Welp ...

I may be new to this board, but even so, it never ceases to amaze me how this board is completely incompetent at getting jokes.
