This is entirely subjective, any decent serif font will do.

My favourites are Minion, Sabon, and Garamond.

That shows you how much (older) scientists know about design.

I have to use it at school (science teacher) because the dyslexic apparently find it easier to read - which is utter bullshit. But I've found a dedicated dyslexic font to use instead, as a typophile, I simply can't use Comic Sans.

But... that image is wrong.

comic sans meets all but one requirement of dyslexic friendly fonts (b d mirroring)

Perhaps for artwork or posters, but using sans serif fonts for body text is _worse_ for people with bad eyesight - the serifs help to train the eye across the page.

My grievance is with dyslexia, not Comic Sans, as in I don't believe it exists, but that's another story. And I'm not happy with the pandering to a minority and displeasing the majority.

There are far better dyslexia fonts out there, which do look pretty, or at least prettier than CS.

>> No.5505762

No argument here. The posters were almost universally awful.

I can see how a [poorly done] study might lead to people with reading difficulties finding comic sans easier to read. (This is a novel relief from the fonts I've been struggling with all my life.)

What's the name of the dyslexic font? Also, I wonder if there's a similarly designed font which is the opposite-- most confusing for dyslexics.

Nope. That's bollocks. It was once thought to be true, but studies say it's the complete opposite.

My grievance is being told to use Comic Sans _because_ of dyslexic children. Given the choice, I would never choose CS as it's an ugly font.

I can see how the open dyslexic font would get tiresome. Reading that single page was somehow uncomfortable. That said, I see the logic behind what they do. I wonder if they could use colored sections instead of thickness to reinforce orientation.

Yep. There are sort-of ways around in applications: rendering the fonts in canvas, etc. For example, Beeline(http://beelinereader.com) uses js to render rainbow text for easier reading.

and otherways you can achieve something similar (for reading purposes), by coloring words in a body of text (liveink) or characters (my site does this).
